500+ RESCUED DOGS NEED LOVING HOMES

 

 

Sainte-Agathe-des-Monts, December 4, 2011 – The SPCA Laurentides-Labelle is lending a hand to an unusually large number of dogs and needs the population’s cooperation in finding them permanent homes.

Last September, more than 500 dogs were seized by Anima Québec from Paws R Us, a large scale breeding facility in the Outaouais which didn’t care for them properly. It was the largest operation of this kind ever made in Canada. These dogs were placed in a temporary emergency shelter located in Lachute awaiting the court’s decision and many of them had puppies in the meantime.

“On November 24, the dogs were released from the original owners’ care and now need loving permanent homes. They’ll be adopted through different SPCAs and rescue organizations. The SPCA Laurentides-Labelle will take in as many of them as possible, according to the number of suitable adoption homes we can find for them,” says Corinne Gonzalez, Executive Director, SPCA LL.

These dogs come in all breeds, shapes and sizes. They’re now in good health but many of them need education and special care around loving and patient guardians. Every one of these dogs will be sterilized, vaccinated and microchipped.

Then, on Thursday, December 1, a court ordered 46 more dogs, all of them chow-chows, to be given up for adoption through the SPCA LL after another seizure operation from a different breeding facility. These pups will also be sterilized, vaccinated and microchipped.

If you’re interested in adopting one of these four-legged friends, go to the SPCA LL’s web site at http://www.spcall.ca and fill out a questionnaire. The team will contact you when a compatible dog is available for you. You can also go to the SPCA LL at 355, Demontigny in Ste-Agathe-des-Monts (autoroute 15, exit 88) and fill out the questionnaire.
