Give Chance a chance

He has big brown eyes.  They are kind and gentle.  This boy needed a special name and we called him Chance.

It was obvious that he was injured when he arrived at the SPCA Laurentides-Labelle.  He could not put weight on one of his hind legs, and had to be seen by a vet to assess the severity of his injury.  It was confirmed that the injury was serious and x-rays needed to be taken to find out what the exact damage was to his leg.

Once arrived at the local animal hospital, the vet examined Chance.  He never whimpered when his leg was palpated, and never cried when it was being bent.  He lay quietly wagging his tail while technicians took x-rays of his leg at different angles where it was confirmed that his leg was fractured.

The decision was made to put a cast on Chance’s leg to ensure it would heal properly.  Since he needed 4 weeks of rest, he was moved directly into a temporary foster home, where he will be able to heal quickly with the care he needs.  After a month of rest, Chance will have to return to the animal hospital for x-rays to make sure that the leg has properly healed.

Chance’s story is bittersweet.  He has received the treatment and care that he needed, but has also cost unexpected expenses to SPCA Laurentides-Labelle.  Chance’s vet bills have totalled over $300 after adding his examinations, x-rays, cast, and the follow-up x-rays in 4 weeks.  Would you like to have a hand in Chance’s recovery?  Funds are needed to help pay for these unexpected bills.
